Jamaican dancehall and reggae artist E-Dee is stepping into a new era with the release of his latest single, “Phoenix Rising,” available now through Clarendon Records. The track delivers an uplifting message about overcoming setbacks, rebuilding after pain, and finding strength through life’s hardest moments.
Known for blending dancehall, reggae, hip-hop, and modern production styles, E-Dee uses this release to tell a much more personal story—one rooted in struggle, growth, and perseverance.
From Clarendon, Jamaica to International Recognition
Born Everton Dennis in Toll Gate, Clarendon, Jamaica, E-Dee grew up as the youngest of twelve children. After losing his mother at a young age, music became more than a passion—it became an escape and eventually a purpose.
Determined to take his talent further, he later moved to Los Angeles, where he studied at the Musicians Institute in Hollywood and the Theatre of Arts. That move would eventually help shape his career as both a recording artist and actor.
Building a Career Across Music and Film
Since releasing his debut single “R U Ready” and album JA 2 LA 2 DI World in 2005, E-Dee has steadily built a name for himself internationally.
Over the years, he has earned chart success in Jamaica and beyond with records like “Revolution” featuring Irie Love and “Bongce Along” with Ms. Triniti, which appeared on Billboard charts.
His music has also been featured in films including I Think I Love My Wife, How She Move, and Like Mike 2: Streetball, while television placements include Glee, Blue Bloods, and Bad Girls Club.
More Than Music
Outside of music, E-Dee has continued building his presence on screen. He starred in the 2011 film Out the Gate alongside Paul Campbell, a movie inspired by parts of his own journey from Jamaica to the entertainment industry.
He has also appeared in projects such as GangLand The Musical, Mother-in-Law featuring Vivica A. Fox, and Chocolate City 3.
His recent albums Elevate and Grateful also received reggae Grammy consideration, continuing to push his name into larger international conversations.
The Meaning Behind “Phoenix Rising”
The new single reflects E-Dee’s personal experiences with loss, pressure, and rebuilding. Instead of focusing on negativity, the song leans into motivation and self-belief, backed by energetic dancehall production and emotional lyrics.
“Life throws heavy blows, but like the phoenix, we rise from the ashes stronger, wiser, and ready to shine,” E-Dee said. “This single is for anyone who’s faced loss, setbacks, or doubt—may it fuel your comeback.”
The record feels like a reminder to keep moving forward no matter what life looks like in the moment.
A New Chapter for E-Dee
With “Phoenix Rising,” E-Dee continues showing why he has remained consistent in entertainment for years. From Jamaica to Hollywood, his journey reflects resilience, reinvention, and staying true to his roots while evolving creatively.
The single is now streaming on Spotify, Apple Music, and all major digital platforms.
